Daliah Lavi

This next blog is dedicated to Daliah Lavi who I have just found out died in 2017. Daliah was an Israeli actress who starred or appeared in several spy films in the 1960's. Her most iconic role was as the murderous Helga in the Bulldog Drummond reboot film "Some Girls Do". OK, I've covered this film before but, given the circumstances, I have included a bumper crop of screen captures to celebrate Daliah's greatest role.
Daliah was often cast as the enemy agent in the spy spin offs of the 60's. Most of these films were pretty dire ranging from "Casino Royale", a travesty of a James Bond film where she does (and wears) virtually nothing through to "The Silencers" where she appears as an enemy agent to Dean Martin's Matt Helm. She also appeared in another misjudged spy film "Spy with a cold nose".

Her final hurrah in a mainstream movie was in "Catlow", after that she re-fashioned herself as a singer. In "Catlow" she was a gun toting bandit and the film was all the better for her presence.
It is always sad doing an obituary. Daliah was not a great actress but added her own slant to the pretty crumby roles she had to play. What's more she seemed to enjoy playing dangerous ladies. I've always had a certain fondness for the spy films of the 60's be they good, bad or indifferent with "Some Girls Do" being one of the first I ever watched. To finish here are some miscellaneous stills and a link to an obituary page.
